Searching Views - Looking for any suggestions

Hi -I'm looking for some suggestions if there is anything out of the box that could help when searching views.

Many of our customers have a number of brands associated to them, however we don't have these brands setup individually as an account because they are not the corporate account just a brand within.

For example

Account 1 has:

Brand A

Brand B

Brand C

I have a simple custom entity setup linked to the account entity that allows a brand name to be recorded.

The problem then occurs if people are looking in the active account list and happen to search for Brand A they get no results and think oh great we'll create a new account when in fact it does exist as a customer but it just happens to be a brand.

The main search across Dynamics could be used but I find users just don't use this option if they are working in accounts they generally search in there.

Any ideas welcome to help me solve getting duplicate daft data!

Thank you!

I would suggest providing a brand level view to customers and asking them to search there. It is more of a user training problem if the users are not clear that there is even an entity of brands that could contain the records they are looking for.

    HI,

Account search uses quick find view. Anf if you check Account Quick  find view from customization and when you try to enable any fields in Add Find Column, you can only select fields from Account entity.

There is no way to select field from Related entity in your case Custom Entity Brand.

One workaround I could think of it to create new Custom text field on Account entity and whenever any brand record associated to account you append Brand name to the custom field on Account. Now enable Custom field on account in Quick find column. Then your user can search based on this field using wild search (*Brand A*)

    Hi RobinA,

As you said, Brand as custom entity and it has N:1 relationship between it and Account entity, so brand is child records of the Account.

What you need is that people can get result in account view when they search Brand name. Right?

It means that you want to show child records in parent view, which is not realistic. One parent record may have multiple child records, so it is difficult to display multiple brands of an account in a view at the same time. with OOB function.

1.One way is to make people search brand in the view of custom entity.

2.Another way is what Bipin suggests, you can create a new filed(brand name) to store child records name(brands) in the account and add it as find column.

However, once you add brands to account, you need fill brand name to the field of the account. So you can create a flow to instead of filling this field manually.

    (1) Go Power Automate(https://us.flow.microsoft.com/en-us/ ) to create an Automated flow.

    (2) Create the Trigger event – in this case I have set the trigger to fire when an brand record is created.

    (3) Add ‘compose’ step to add the created brand name to the brand name field of the account entity.

    (4) Update Account entity brand name field with the values already combined.
