Mobile Dynamics CRM linked to Dynamics CRM log

I was under the impression that if a user made a phone call from the mobile app Dynamics 365 for phones that the call would automatically be logged in CRM however, users still have to manually add phone calls manually and use outlook to track emails. Is there a way for the mobile app to log the calls and/or emails directly in activities?
