Is there a way to bring up  CRM contact groups in outlook address book?  I'm referring to both the contacts and contact groups that they all belong in.

    Hi...

You may go to CRM Client for outlook :  File >> CRM >> Options >> Address Book >>> select all the settings those are applicable for contacts to be sync in Address Book

Sorry but I am not able to understand about "Contact Groups" in CRM , Could you please elaborate on that ?

    thanks.

    Hi Marco/Sumit,

Thanks for your suggested solutions.  But that solution your referring to on the url link is actually referring to importing your contacts into MS-CRM.  Sumit,  I also already tryed selecting all items on the address book tab, but still the contact groups do not appear in outlook address book.  They also do not synchronize contact groups locally to my PC.

Our business problem is that we need to find a way to access our contact groups already stored in CRM through Outlook.  We are trying to avoid using the MS-CRM web application, and instead try to email our clients on contact groups using outlook with CRM outlook addon.  See attached images below for details.  Based on my research so far,  I noticed you can bring up contacts stored in CRM by way of outlook address book, including "contact groups".  However, it seems to be blank when I attempt to bring up in address book.  Any thoughts as to why this isn't displaying our contact groups on the outlook address book?  Here are the contact groups we need to access in CRM by way of outlook:

However, when i try to bring up the contact groups in outlook address book, it's blank:

    Appreciate any feedback.

    -David

    Hello ,

Contact group  is a custom entity , You may create a outlook filter for this entity then it might be possible where you can have these records in outlook.

Go to File >> Options >> Synchronization >> outlook filters >> new filter >> select this entity "Contact group" >> filter criteria can be :  owner equals current user. >> save and activate it

    - Sync CRM with outlook

    - If this resolve the issue then let me know.

    thanks .

    Hi Sumit,

Thanks for the response.  I have attempted creating an outlook filter to pull contact groups followed by syncing CRM with my outlook.  However, it still does not show the "contact groups" as a distribution list when i bring up the address book.  Perhaps you can suggest a way for me to create the filters properly to pull the contract groups that i need.  here's my current setup:

After synchronization, it should successfully display the contact group "contact test" (for example) in the outlook address book in the area below, is that correct?

    Hi,

I believe through out of box functionality you can not sync (CRM to Outlook) any custom entity with outlook.

It is By - Design. You can only Sync Contacts , Appointment, task, fax, recurring appointments, letter , phone call and service entity.

    thanks.

    Thanks for your reply,

So what you are saying is that there is no way to access contact groups and/or marketing lists directly from outlook, unless you perform custom development?  please confirm and clarify this, as I need to conclude on this matter.

    thanks,

Also Sumit, could you further explain why outlook address book would not allow me to select a CRM contact group from the following dropdown?  If it cannot sync contact groups, why display this option like it seems like it's available to select a certain contact grop from CRM?

Thanks, appreciate your opinion and feedback.
