API Documentation / Roadmap

Hi All

We are currently considering Dynamics NAV as a solution to replace our aging warehouse system and Sage (poo) accounts software.

One of the important things to us is to have access to an API so we can still populate our rep / client portals and integrate with our logistics solution.

I have managed to get the API to list the entity sets available which does not appear to be fully functional at this stage.

Is there any documentation on how to use the API, with examples and is there a roadmap to illustrate what will be available and when?

Many thanks

Dynamics TMS for NAV is a fully integrated logistics solution using webservices and with APIs to major carriers.

Thanks but we already have a logistics solution, we need to know what NAV API's will be available and how to use them...

    Hi,

I'd suggest a web services approach: if your Logistics solution has the ability to call web services, you can expose both NAV data (for data interchange) & codeunits (for business logic)...

Thanks for the suggestion Bleika, the webservice approach does look like a better option.

Dynamics NAV / Business Central is indeed a solution that is very friendly to all kinds of integrations. E.g., check this web services docs: docs.microsoft.com/.../microsoft-dynamics-nav-web-services-overview . E.g., it is very easy to expose a web service on a user-level by publishing a page.
