Win8 app login account

Posted on by 65

Windows 8 Dynamics CRM app seems to use Windows login account automatically to sign into app, or how can I login with some other account as CRM Online account is different from my Windows login account (Microsoft account).

    Hi Jussi-

I am sorry to see that you have not received an answer yet.  I can help answer this.  This is a known limitation if you are using a Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online organization that still uses Microsoft Account (formerly known as Live ID) for authentication.  If you log into your Windows 8 device using a Microsoft Account, a Windows 8 app that uses Microsoft Account as the identity provider will automatically authenticate with the currently logged in Microsoft Account.  If you log in as the Microsoft Account that you use with your CRM Online organization, that works great but when you are logged in as a different Microsoft Account, you will encounter this issue.

You may be aware that all Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online organizations that still uses Microsoft Account are being transitioned to the Microsoft Online Services platform which does not use Microsoft Account for authentication.  This issue does not occur for organizations that are on the Microsoft Online Services platform as they will not use Microsoft Account as the identity provider.  Until your organization is transitioned, the only other available workaround is to log into your Windows 8 device as the Microsoft Account that matches the one associated with your CRM Online organization.

This type of scenario was documented on the Known Issues page but the error that appears has changed since it was written and needs to be updated:

    www.microsoft.com/.../known-issues-for-crm-for-tablets-and-phones.aspx

Prior to Update Rollup 1 the message that appeared was "This operation failed because you're offline. Reconnect and try again."  Now the message is a little more helpful in understanding what is happening but the underlying limitation still exists.

    Thanks,

    Dana

    Hi,

THat is not the issue. Issue is that if I have logged into Windows 8 with Microsoft account, say jussipalo@live.com - and my CRM Online account is actually Microsoft Account jussi.palo@sulava.com, how do I sign into Dynamics CRM Windows 8 app with the CRM Online app.

App seems to automatically use the account I've used to sign into Windows 8, as when starting the app, I see the "Connecting to service" login dialog loadingbriefly, then automatically proceeding to app, then error that I'm not authorized to use the app. Our CRM admins have double checked my account has permissions to the service.

I've tried clearing IE cache, as it usually is used in the background in these SSO scenarios, but it didn't help.

if you are using CRM online and your organization is o365  then you have to use your o365 login details to login successfully

    Thank You...
