Downgrade Business Central from Premium to Essentials

Client currently has Business Central Premium under a yearly/monthly subscription (billed monthly - indirect CSP) Anniversary date is 30 Aug XXXX. Can we change the license from Premium to Essential subscription? How can we engage the CSP Indirect Provider to assist? They claim it cant be done.....

It can't be done. As most likely You have data already in the Premium tables in the database, You have to use premium license.
If You want to downgrade to Essentials, You would need to set up a new license, and migrate the data - and most likely transfer of master data and opening balances on the migration date (usually on a new financial year).

You can't downgrade the license. What you would do is Cancel the Premium and Purchase the Essentials licenses. Then replace the licenses on the Users.

As stated already, the Essentials license would not be able to access the Company with "User Experience" = Premium. You would need to create a new Company in the environment and treat it as a Go-Live with opening entries. As long as you keep the new company in "User Experience" = Essentials, your Users would be able to access the new company.

You can have a mixed license set within your tenant, where Premium licensed Users could access both companies. Just know the Essential Users would only be able to access the Essential company.

As several other experts have mentioned, this cannot be downgraded.

But license is just an access rights, if you want to disable the Service Management and Manufacturing Module, you can modify the Experience in Company Information.
