Hi

Our client has an issue.Their AX server is in different location and the user machines are at different site. These two sites are connected by  high speed internet. At some time they are facing the issue when opening forms in AX. Attached is the error.

The error message appears is "The server is unavailable. Check your configuration and network connection and try again.". Kindly let me know what might be causing this issue.

    Hi Raman,

Are they facing this error only while opening the forms in AX?

    Hi Siddhant

I believe its not related a single specific  form, the error message is coming randomly when opening forms.

There seem to be some short network outages. Maybe you should check with your network provider.

Also it's recommended that AOS and Client are in the same network and as close of each other as possible - not on different sites.

The best way to publish AX client to remote sites is RemoteApp, Citrix or similar, instead of running the client physically on the remote site.

Check to see whether the  service has stopped. The AOS service status in Windows Services list, must be in Running status If it's not showing Started then you have to start it and retry. This can take time to initialise

In Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Client Configuration tool check that AX2012 R3 is set for the default configuration. i.e. make sure that the values are correct under the Connection tab, when you open the client directly with ax32.exe. If however, you use the .axc config file to connect to the AOS, then check it is using the correct details .

There are quite a few possible causes- have you checked the event viewer-logs - its usually a good place to start. In the AOS eventviewer a probable  error is:  Faulting application name: ax32Serv.exe, version: xxx, time stamp: xxx. Check whether it has any error related to Network on AOS server or Domain on AOS server.

Also see the Service control manager for errors.
Eliminate any  issues with the server itself, or the connection between the client and server machine; e.g.  the firewall properties on both machines.
Verify that the kernel  versions of the AOS and the client match.

If you conclude the issue is bad code or data, then you may need to memory dump and run some analysis tool.

If you use a vpn or rpc then check Vilmos post here https://community.dynamics.com/ax/f/33/t/238239

(Is there an older version of Ax on the same server? What version of SQL is running? )
