Inventory Transfers

When doing an inventory transfer, the Field Service In-Transit Transfer Entry screen does not offer a Quantity Type button which allows you to select a From/To quantity type (on-hand, returned, etc.).  But the regular Inventory Module Transfer Entry screen does.  If I receive items into a Returns warehouse via the RMA process must I use the In-Transit Transfer screen to move items from the Returned warehouse to my main warehouse or can I use the Inventory module Inventory Transfer screen?  What is the difference between using these two screen?  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks.

Hi Jimmy.  You do not need to use the Field Service ITT Entry window to move items from your Returns warehouse to your main warehouse.  You can use the Inventory Module Transfer window.  The ITT process allows a user to utilize a "transit" Site during shipment.  For instance, if I'm shipping from my main warehouse in MA to my secondary warehouse in CA, my product may be on a truck for 7 days.  I could set up a Site called "TRUCK" and use this as my transit warehouse.  So when I ship from the ITT window my product would move from the main warehouse into the TRUCK warehouse.  I would have visibility to all product in transit by reviewing what items/quantities were in the TRUCK site.

When my receiving department in CA physically received the goods, they would then use the Receiving Transaction window (change the drop down to In-Transit Shipments) and be able to receive the product in from TRUCK to the secondary warehouse location.

An Inventory Transfer in comparison does not utilize a transit site.  Once the transfer is posted, it moves the product from the main warehouse to the secondary warehouse.  There is no visibility to what is actually in transit.

Thanks!  I like that "TRUCK" example....
