Change Account to Opportunity Relationship Behavior

I'm currently using CRM Online. It was brought to my attention that if I delete an Account all the opportunities tied to it are deleted as well. I've gone into the 1:N relationships under the Account entity and can't seem to figure out how to make it so the delete behavior is set to "remove link." The delete option is always read only even when I switch to configurable cascading. Am I missing something simple or can this just not be done?

    Daniel,

The Parental relationship (through the Potential Customer field on the opportunity) between Account and Opportunity cannot be changed - even if changed to referential, although the Referential relationship (through the Account field on the opportunity) already has that functionality.

I would recommend doing one of the following:

    1. setting the account to inactive instead of deleting.

    2. Create a dummy blank account, and before deleting the account, setting all associated opportunities Account field to the that dummy account.
