D365 CPOS Retail Receipt printing to XPS file or OneNote like AX2012 or Retail Peripheral Simulator?

Hello,

In AX2012 it was fairly straight forward to set up retail POS receipt printing to either an XPS file or to OneNote.

I D365 I set the hardware profile for Houston-14 register by checking the hardware profile associated to it.

I then changed the printer to the Windows driver and to the device name of Microsoft XPS Document writer.

I then ran job 1090.

I then opened POS after the job completion and made a transaction.

I would have assumed that similar to AX2012 that it would pop something up to ask me where I would like to save the XPS file but it did not.

SO then I found the link here that describes setting up the Retail Peripheral Simulator.

https://alfapeople.com/us/peripheral-simulator-dynamics-365-operations/

I've done all the steps but launching the POS is telling me that I need to set up Hardware Station.

When I try to set the Hardware Station on the POS it tells me that there is an error communicating with the Hardware station.  I cannot get the Hardware Station to pair properly.

Does anyone have a recommendation for getting the CPOS to print the receipt so we can review it?

thanks!

    Hi Mike,

If you want to see print preview in CPOS, You can try this navigation

In CPOS Go to Journal>click on any receipt on list>Click on bottom extension menu>Click on show receipt. Existing receipt will open as preview.

    Thanks

You cannot attach a hardware directly to a CPOS. You need to install the the Retail hardware station and attach the peripherals to hardware station. You can have a dedicated or shared hardware station. The hardware station should be defined in the store configuration. In POS, you need to  select the hardware that you wanna pair to your CPOS. This is just a high level definition, you can refer to docs.microsoft.com/.../retail-hardware-station-configuration-installation for detailed process.

    @Shafeeque Mohammed

    Thanks for the response.

The intention was to get a "simple" setup using the VM and a virtual printer so we can see the results of changes to the receipt.

I have gone through the hardware station link on Microsoft.

It does allow me to pair the hardware but when I run CPOS it will tell me that there is an error with the hardware station.   It must be something that I overlooked or introduced incorrectly in the steps.

I was hoping someone had some similar issues and maybe had some suggestions that get over the hurdle.

    thanks for your time!

    Hi Mike

I am trying to setup Retail CPOS and MPOS with printer in D365 Finance and operations environment . I have followed the procedure in the MS document.I was able to get the hardware station working with MPOS , however it does not work with CPOS.

I have installed the hardware station and i get error at the Install Merchant information part , any idea how to resolve this ? I am no sure why we would require merchant information for printer.I tried to ignore this and connect to printer from CPOS but it does not detect the printer.
