Reset last cost

Is there a way to reset all the last costs fields to zero? We split our database into two. one for valued and one for zero value. All the information from the original (valued) was copied to the new (zero dollar) so there are values in the last cost field that are defaulting onto POs and SOs. We would like everything in the zero dollar data base to have cost of zero.

 Thanks,

      Dana

We are going to try setting POs to look at Standard Costs, all the Standard Costs should be at zero as we used Average Cost in the original database.

      Thanks,

This is two part answer. To my knowledge there is no way in the SL screens to set the last cost to zero. However, it is a fairly simple script to do it via SQL. The person who does it with SQL should be knowledgeable about SQL and the SL tables. Plus, a SQL backup of the DB should be made before running the script.

    Dana,

Thanks for posting! Unfortunately, this is not possible. However, you can modify the way the cost defaults into the Purchase Order screen by changing the Default Unit Cost option in PO Setup. The Cost showing in Sales Orders is for reference only and is not actually used in the system.  Once you create the Shipper, run the Sales Journal, and release the IN Batch the Costing in the Shipper and on the Sales Journal is changed to reflect the actual cost.

I hope this helps.  Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.
