We have a situation that we wants to access on-premise Dynamics 365 webAPI  on azure cloud app. Any suggestion how do we achieve this authentication/access/query/CRUP operation??Accessing from internal apps within network is something we do. But from Azure apps, do we needs to open any port/express route/vnet/ or do we needs to utilize IFD??

    There are 2 main options:

    1. If it is possible to connect the server that the Azure Cloud App runs on to your network via a VPN, then there should need nothing else at the CRM side. However, I expect this is only possible if you have an Azure VM
    2. Or, enable IFD to allow access to the OnPremise CRM Server

You can publish OnPrem as an App in Azure using an Azure App Proxy

    Hi Nick,

You can achieve this enabling IFD to your org. If IFD is enabled then we can access crm org service for all your operation on Azure.

    Hope this helps

Syed, thanks for confirmation. Any IFD only or does IFD with Claim authentication has to be enabled in order to access that??

It's preferred to have the IFD with claims for app users. For building backend operations like workflow  or other operation it's enuf with IFD.  Better go with IFD with claims for all .

    Hope this helps

From reading the replies, it looks like the Azure App Proxy would potentially be a replacement option for enabling the org for IFD - is that correct?  Any thoughts on the pros/cons of the two options?
