Hi All

We are looking for complete end end solution in AX2012 for Furniture Business(Merchandising, Supply Chain and Retail). We are offering customize furniture for bedrooms, drawing rooms etc.

Kindly advise can we configure this in standard AX or we need some vertical for this.

It would be great if you share your experiences in detail :)

Hi Ali,

You should be able to implement the AX 2012 R3 solution for Furniture business to an extent.

In case of customized furniture business, you would require to use complete production module including BOM / Route for exact inventory management and related costing.

As per the client requirement, you would require to create new items / BOM in the system, so that the same be sold to customer.

You can also use Retail POS for taking the orders at outlet level, which can be delivered later from warehouse / store.

In case, if the required Item is not available, you would require to have open / generic item in master list, so that you can place the order with that dummy item with exact description.

Later you can arrange to create the actual item / BOM and then product & sell that particular item.

I am not sure about the vertical available in AX for Furniture industry, however one the largest furniture company (Ashley Furniture Industries) is managing their business on AX.

You can refer customer story on MS site.

There might be some customization need as per industry requirement, however that is always there in AX for many of the industries like Medical, Pharma, Retail etc.

Hi Brandon

We have couple of requirements.

Firstly we need to implement furniture business for R2 not for R3.

Next most important requirement is to place the order for an item(furniture) even if the item is in other legal entity. If the items are not in Legal entity A user can reserve and create the IC transfer orders(SO/PO) and rather receiving the items in Legal entity A warehouse system allows the flexibility to deliver the item at customer premises.

Inventory visibility required for all the items at retail POS for all legal entities warehouses in the following four buckets

- Ordered items against the purchase order. (Possible)

- Items in transit (In container) - ASN (How I can achieve this?)

- Items available in stock main warehouse (Possible)

- Items available in store (Possible)

Fleet Management: We need to deliver the items at customer premises. Item are of three types.

1- Bed frame only. (Have it's own SKU - Sale able item)

2- Bed set. (Needs to sell complete bed set which is my finish good)

3- Service item

How we can manage our fleet ? Is there any vertical available or workaround in R2.

We also need to keep our items in the following buckets.

- Displayable items. (Needs to block for sale)

- Actual items available for sales in store

- Items available in other legal entities (Flexibility required at run time to create Inter company transfer order if required by the customer)

- Items returned by the customer (slightly damaged) available for sale at less price
