Service Call line item stuck.

I have a part in the 203 table that was on a purchase order. The PO has been received and the backorder quantity filled on the call, however the call will not update to completed. When I try to manually do this it gives me an error message that it can't complete while there is a part on back order. The only place I see a part is in the 212 table. Can I delete that row or is there another way to make this call move into completed status?

I would be using SQL Profiler at this point to see what the "sticking point" is.  Since you removed the line from the Front-end, the backorder stuff should have gone.  That message you get makes me wonder if there is an Intransit transfer hiding.  Please check:

    Transactions >> Inventory >> In-Transit Transfer Entry

Sorry this isn't going well for you.

Ok - I've tried your deletion and it deleted the rows, but when I add the part back into the call I'm still getting the "can't complete while a part is on backorder or in transit". There was only this one part that was ever on a PO, so I am well and truly stuck now. I guess I could try deleting all the parts and re-adding them to the call to see if I can fix this issue.

So I'm guessing that they can do no more with the line (can't remove the fulfilled parts, can't remove backorder, etc.)

To return to your original question-delete a parts line.  When my users try to delete a parts line they are usually confronted with "Posted transactions exist for this line...."  I check in SVC00231 for the debits and credits related to the line.  If they balance and cancel each other(same accounts debited and credited netting to zero), I delete them.  The criteria is very specific (manage the risk.)  You will have to substitute your own CALLNBR and LNITMSEQ.

    DELETE

    from SVC00231

    where SRVRECTYPE = 2 and CALLNBR = '0000026306'  and

         EQPLINE=1 and LNITMSEQ IN (49152) and LINITMTYP='P'  and POSTED = 1

After the distributions are gone, the line can be removed. This solution is of my own design (no assistance from Microsoft).  I can't make any guarantees regarding your system. This works here for me.

I don't honestly know the answer to that question as I was only notified of the issue when they could not set the call to completed. I'm "assuming" they received the po as is normally done, but have no way of knowing that for sure.

How did you fulfill the backorder quantity on the call, if you didn't follow the procedure I outlined?  This is the only "front-end" way to get rid of the back-order.

Thank you Tim. That would work just fine except that I don't see any of the parts that are in the service call in the inventory requirements screen. :(

    Margaret,

This happens here occasionally.  Prepare yourself for the dumbest thing ever.  I have talked to Microsoft about this....

You have an Item we'll call A, and it is backordered on a Service Call from Site B.

    1.  If Item A has been received into Site B (where it is required) you will have to Inventory Transfer it to Site C.

    2.  Transactions>>Service Call Management>>Inventory Requirements.  You will see the line with Item A on it.  Complete the Transfer From field with "Site C" on the scrolling window and press the transfer button.  This initiates an ITT.  Take note of the number. Check the ITT, ship if necessary.

    3. Receive the ITT.

    4. Backorder gone.

You can't fulfill a backorder from the Site where it is required.  The Microsoft folks were bewildered (but not enough to fix it).
