Description Line PO

I need some clarification on how this Description Line Purchase order work. Do we need to create a Voucher or Receipt for this type for PO? I tested and I was able to create both for this PO but the Help document says the receipt is not necessary for this kind of PO.

How is this purchase order actually work? If someone can explain, that will be great help.

    Description line purchase order does not need a receipt and it doesn't even ask for a project #. I really don't see the need for the description line it as you normally use the "Goods for Project" and "Services for Project" lines. Services do not need a receipt and goods do.

    The ‘Purchase for’ type of Description Line is used to enter additional lines of description on a purchase order.  A description line can be added to a ‘purchase for’ type that requires a receipt (Goods for Inventory, Goods for Project, Goods for Project Inventory, Goods for Project Inventory, Goods for Sales Order, Goods for Project Sales Orders or Non-Inventory Goods) or a ‘purchase for’ that doesn’t require a receipt (Misc Charges, Services for Expense, or Services for Project).  Normally the description line is added to a ‘purchase for’ type that requires a receipt.  The description line provides a user with a way to add more information to a purchase order.  For example: If you order a box of file folders you can enter a purchase for of ‘goods for inventory’ for the folders and then add a description line ‘folders are for John Smith, Acctng Dept’.
