Checking for customer PO in sales order processing

Does anyone know of any existing code that will check the customer purchase order number when entering a sales order transaction to insure that the PO number for that customer has not already been used?

Hi Richard,

I am pretty sure this isn't possible without customization. The number of times I have seen multiple orders for a customer with the same PO number makes me think built in functionality is highly unlikely. I think this would be a great option and will happily upvote it on connect if you would like to submit a suggestion.

Kirk, I was hoping to not have to write anything. I will log into MSCONNECT and put in a vote for this. I see the index is already in there so someone must have been thinking about this.

Yes. You can do this by creating a customization(Dexterity/VBA).

Although I wrote a mod to do this years ago, I understand it is part of the Professional Services Toolkit, see David's post here:
