Two CRM versions on same active directory

We are running CRM 2011 on-premises and we want to upgrade it to CRM 2013 on-premises. The problem is we are unsure that can we use the same active directory server for running these two versions.

Can anyone help please.

    This should not be an issue, as I am running this scenario with multiple deployments of 2011, 2013 and 2015. You should plan on using Windows Server 2012 and SQL Server 2014 so you are prepared for CRM 2015.

    Thanks gene for your reply. yes, we are planning to eventually move to the latest version. But for that process we needed to make sure if we install CRM 2013 using same active directory will it affect our existing CRM or not?

    Be aware that you must use a different SQL instance from the one running 2011.
