Summary account for customer account X in posting profile Y does not exist

Dear community,

I've researched the forum and found multiple posts addressing the issue of posting a GL journal and getting an error "Summary account for customer account X in posting profile Y does not exist" but still didn't find quite exactly what I was looking for.

Our business process requires to post transactions on Customer accounts in a GL journal, and have the automatic settlement enabled. As "Allow automatic settlement" functionality can be enabled only for the whole posting profile we decided to split Customer accounts in separate posting profiles and enable the automatic settlement only for one of the posting profiles.

Now we have 2 posting profiles:

  1. STD - standard posting profile with automatic settlement disabled
  2. STD_2 - 2nd standard posting profile with automatic settlement enabled

Under the AR parameters, the default posting profile is set to STD. Which means that when creating GL journals we would manually change the posting profile from STD to STD_2.

The Customer was initially in the CUSTOMERS Customer group and we had already posted transactions on the customer account. After the switch a new Customer group was created "CUSTOMERS2" and added in the STD_2 posting profile as seen in the above screenshot.

From the setup perspective all seems to be ok:

  1. Customer is assigned to the new Customer group "CUSTOMERS2"
  2. CUSTOMERS2 group is added under the STD_2 posting profile
  3. A Summary account is added under the STD_2 posting profile for CUSTOMERS2 group

However, when posting a GL journal the system seems to have the link to the previous posting profile STD, even if the posting profile is changed on the journal line.

In the journal the posting profile is manually changed to STD_2 under the Invoice tab and also this change is visible in the Posting profile column

When posting this test journal the system links the Customer account back to the historical posting group STD and doesn't allow posting.

If I add the CUSTOMERS2 group under the historical STD posting profile, then this error dissapears.

Just to test which posting profile would be selected, I created such setup

  1. In posting profile STD the summary account is 216002
  2. In posting profile STD_2 the summary account is 216001

When posting the correct summary account is selected and there seem to be no issues + the automatic settlement works as expected.

The voucher

So the question would be, what causes this issue and can we set up Customer groups in two parallel posting profiles? Is there some other setup, where the link to STD posting profile should be changed?

Has anyone had a similar requirement and managed to do a setup where automatic settlement is enabled only for specific customer groups without adding the customer group in multipple posting profiles?
