HELP Million Dollar Sale

I hope there is a quick fix to this. After we scan items and we hit f12 for the total amount and if someone accidentally scans another item it will ring up a million dollar sale. Is there a way to disable the scanner temporarily after hitting f12? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Getting tired of having to void several of these a day.

Under the cash tender, set a limit for sale total... whatever your max possibly could be... like 3,000 or 10,0000. This will stop the sale from going through. Changes to cash tender are made in manager
