Updating UsageCategory on Menusuite during Upgrade

Hi,

I am working on a upgrade project which requires me to update the usagecategory property on the pages/reports present in the menusuite.

I have heard about a tool which updates the usagecategory of the objects on menusuite. I tried searching it online but couldn't find it. Could someone point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance.

    Hi Shawnsauve

Did you get to read my reply? Because I am hunting down the tool in the MS BC official website but I am not able to locate it.

It would be great if you could provide a link from where i can download the tool. It'd be very useful for me and many others if we get hold of the tool which is for some reason placed in a safety lock on the internet

    Thanks

    Hi Shawn,

That's exactly what I was looking. But the link which you have provided errors out for me.

I also went to the Microsoft's Official BC website to download the application and seems like it is not present there as well.

Could you explain with a screenshot on how to download the app? It would be very helpful for me and i can even get to brainstorm on the app with my colleagues. Thanks in advance.

Or if you have the app downloaded, would you be able to share it on my gmail - letters2johnsonpatrick@gmail.com

Yes, there is a tool called MenuSuite Usage Category Update Tool that can help update the usagecategory property on the pages and reports present in the MenuSuite. This tool can be used to update the usage category of multiple objects at once, saving you time and effort.

You can download the tool from Microsoft's official website. Here are the steps to download the tool:

    1. Go to the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central downloads page (dynamics.microsoft.com/.../).

    2. Scroll down to the Tools section and click on the MenuSuite Usage Category Update Tool link.

    3. On the next page, select the version of the tool that matches your version of Business Central.

    4. Read the license agreement and click the Accept button.

    5. Save the file to your computer and extract the contents.

Once you have downloaded and installed the tool, you can use it to update the usagecategory property on the pages and reports present in the MenuSuite. Simply select the objects you want to update, specify the new usage category, and click the Update button. The tool will then update the usage category for all selected objects.

    I hope this helps!

Hi, Sorry this may not be the answer you were looking for, the following tools can automatically add ApplicationArea, but no usagecategory.

Hopefully other experts can give you better advice.

    Thanks.
