RMS Version 2.0.2020

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

We are moving to Shift4 for our payment processing. In order to do so we have to upgrade RMS 2.0.2020 with Hotfix 58. What is Hotfix 58 and where can I find it to download it?

Cat, upgrading to hotfix 58 to the best of my knowledge is not a requirement associated with changing processors and if you have installed CU 5 2.0.2000 if you download and install hotfix 60 (because it is cumulative) it would include 58 in the same process. Often if you bookmark a link to service packs and hotfixes if you click that favorite it brings you to a cached page. Try doing a "new" search for RMS 2.0 service packs and hotfixes as the most recent should be 60. 2.0.2022. Thank you, hope this helps. If the issue is resolved please update the post and let us know.

www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx Click the plus sign next to install instructions scroll down 9 lines. You will likely find all the old SQL 2005 pages are gone so your previous backwards compatibility sources are also gone Jeff. Here's one that isn't not yet anyway. Cheers, Butch

    Hi,

The next time you perform this process please note not to do it this way.

You need RMS 2.0.0105/RMS Cu5 2.0.2000/CU5 help files and hot fix 60 only. When updating the database do it in two parts please. Upgrade the database from 2.0 to like 2.03 first wait for it to finish. Go back and go from 2.03 to 2.06 that works better. Be sure the UAC is down to never notify and you are opening administrator/right click run as administrator you should be golden. Hope this helps.

    The actual process is;

Install SQL Server 2k8R2 or 2k14 for a Server or POS stations that will use the Offline function

Install the Backward Compatibility mentioned below for each machine that will run RMS.

Configure the SQL Server with Named Pipes and TCP/IP, Named Pipes ordered first

I have previously written posts on how to do this, both a new install or an upgrade, search for it.

Install RMS 2.0, be careful not to install SQL from here as it will install SQL 2k5

    Install CU5

Install the latest hotfix, currently 2.0.2022

Run Windows Update as there will be updates

Need to install the SQL 2005 Backward Compatibility

    Go here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=27596

    Click the download button

Find the version of SQLServer2005_BC.msi you need, either the x86 for 32bit Windows or x64 for 64bit Windows

Run it and install only the second line in the list and restart the machine.

    The error message didn't post:

Error 55555, severity 16, state 1 was raised, but no message with that error number was found in sys.messages. If error is larger than 50000, make sure the user defined message is added using sp_addmessage.

Thank you - we were able to get up to the current version. Now, we are having trouble upgrading the database to 2.06. Not sure if it's something in SQL or if we skipped a step or two in the upgrade process.

We are building a new environment to accommodate going to Shift4 as our payment processor.

These are the steps (summarized) we took to get to RMS V2.0.2022.

We have SQL Server 2014 installed on the server.

    RMS V2.0

    RMS FP 1

RMS SP4 - this brought us to 2.0.0155

RMS FP2 - the installation instructions said to upgrade the database to 2.05, which we didn't do.

    RMS CU5

    RMS CU5 Hotfixes

My questions is - should we have stopped at FP2 and upgraded the database to 2.05 before continuing?

This is the error message we are getting when trying to connect to HQ database from V2.0.2022.

    Thanks for your help!

    Debbie,

Copy and paste the entire link into the address bar to include the part after the semicolon. The hyperlink is incomplete as you can see in the text and underline color.

    Jeff,

I'm having trouble opening the links to view. I get the message: Our Apologies ...

An error has occurred while retrieving this document. Please try your search again.

Email this problem to our support team.

It's occurring on all links. Is there another way to view?

    Thanks,

    Debbie
