Can we block/restrict customer groups for a specific Legal Entity

Hello,

We have 4 customer groups for our 2 Legal Entities.
But we would like to restrict/block 3 of those customer groups for one of our Legal Entities.
Is it possible to simply block them instead of completely removing them so in the future if its needed, we can unblock them?

Thank you,

I have the same question (0)

    Hey,

As fas as I know you cant block whole customer groups, but only customer accounts.

Here you can find the location and a blog how it exactly works.
How to keep customer on hold in D365 Finance and Operations (dynamics.com)

An idea that came to my mind. You could set credit limit for the customer groups to 0. However, still some processes will work, f.e. you could create an sales order and depending on the setup also the proforma sales order confirmation, so it wouldnt restrict you when you select the customer itself. If you do some research on this idea and tests, keep in mind to also test working with journals, as the credit limit work different or maybe not at all for journals.

    Kind regards, Adis

Do you want to block them so they can't be seen or accessed or just block their use in transactions?  If the latter, you can put the customers on hold in the specific legal entities.  But you can't put a whole group on hold.  If you want to block viewing them, that will require customization.

You may setup XDS for that purpose.

    Hi,

There is no setting in the standard application for blocking a customer group.

In case you want to restrict users from choosing the customer group, then you can create a security policy (XDS) as Billur mentioned, but this is a customization for your environment. It should be designed using Visual Studio. Depending on the design, when you need the new group, you might need to change this customization or support the XDS policy with a setup form of allowed customer groups.

I think the easiest thing to do is remove them from the legal entity. In case you need a new group, you can add them again. That will be the most agile and cost-effective option.
