Creating contact via Marketing form, when Contact has business required lookup field?

Hi!

On Contact entity I have field called parent account, which is a lookup field to account record. The field is on status business required.

Now we are implementing Dynamics  365 Marketing and creating newsletter form, form where people can join to the subscription list (a marketing list).Marketing form type is landing page since we need to create contacts from subscribers.

When publishing marketing form, we get a warning:  " To Create a Contact the Parent Customer (xxx) field should be included in your form and marked as required.  " Since field is lookup field is not an option when creating marketing form field, we cannot add this field to the form.

What would be the best approach to this? Does this warning cause technical malfunctioning? Our customer is planning to manually add contacts an account when new contacts are generated, so there isn't any business case problem.

We would not want to remove the business required status from the field.

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Milla

As a workaround you could add a temporary/default account record and set this as the pre-filled (and hidden) option on the form? So when the Contact gets created it will automatically be assigned to this account. Then when more details about the contact are added a proper account can be created / assigned.

    Hi Tim_H,

As you can see from picture above, I cannot even add the the lookup field on the form, so I don't have opportunity to set field prefilled and hidden. After my message, I have got an answer from Microsoft that lookup fields are not supported in marketing forms. But I haven't got any workarounds.

Otherwise, this would be a possible approach!

    Hello Milla,

indeed are we not supporting Lookup fields for marketing forms at this point.

But still you can create a marketing form without this lookup field, even though the specific lookup relationship is marked as mandatory (business required). The form submissions will create contacts without the field set. The next time a user opens the contact in the UI though it needs to specify a value before saving.

If you desire you could create a business rule on the contact entity which works on the entity level and defines a select default value for the lookup field.

Hi thank you! For further readers, Microsoft support confirmed that the warning isn't going to produce technical problems.
