    Dear Sverre,

I am not Ivan, but, the topic made me to write here.

Our partner suggests us to use product configurator, but, proposes 2 ways to use it.

1st one is to use it for our standard products (item codes), so, the sales people can ask the client the size, color, style of the product and with customer approval, order will bypass the planning department and go directly to production. Products specialized from standard or special items will again pass from the planning department.

2nd one is to make a more complex configurator and also use for products specialized from standard. This will take more partner person/day, cover more percent of products, is more risky to get the item directly into production.

I should here say that 1st way covers 20% of our products, 2nd way covers 35-40% of our products. We also make contract furniture for hotels etc. that have their own type of furniture. We manufacture 1 time, thousands of pieces, but, with size etc. variations.

    Best regards,

    Hi Barcu

    Thank you for your input.

You will probably be best served by using Predefined variants for the 1st scenario and Product configurator for the 2nd.

Predefined variants can use one or more of the Size, Color, Style and Configuration product dimensions to identify product variants.

Product configurator allows you to define as many attributes as you need to identify a product variant and generates the variant using the configuration dimension as identifier.

    Thanks,

    Sverre
