Deleted user by accident from SY01400

Good day,

I deleted  a user from the SY01400 table when what I was really supposed to do was to delete them from the activity table. I am trying to recreate the user within GP but when trying to save it gives the error than that SQL userid already exists. This is understandable but instead of creating the userid with a different name. Is there a way to retain the old userid? Meaning, is it a case where I would have to delete the existing SQL ID and then try creating over the user within GP with the same ID? I am asking as I don't know if there are any implications. So as a live example:  the user is jmatt and that is what I deleted from SY01400. I try to create it back in GP but it says it already exists within SQL. Instead of creating jmatt1, can I create the jmatt over?

You will need to go into SSMS and delete this user ID from SQL and from each company database and the DYNAMICS database.

I will second Richard's response - you need to open security in each db in SSMS and delete the userid from GP there.  After that you can just add them back in to GP.

What if you restore dynamics database recent backup, look for the user in table SY01400. Insert that specific record of the user in your live dynamics database specifically in the SY01400. This should be the easiest. You need to omit Dex_row_id field since its an identity field.

You could also use SQL to remove the database logins and then create them again through the gp interface'. You don't delete the Master Login, just the database logins.

    Kind regards

    Hi,

Since all you did was deleting accidentally the SY01400 record from this user, yes the easiest thing would be simply to restore the last backup of your DYNAMICS DB to a different DB name (i.e. DYN_RESTORE) and copy that missing record from the SY01400 table into the live table.

After that, your user should be able to login back into GP.. That assumes that you haven't done any other action in SQL server or in GP with that user's security..

Take a backup of the DYNAMICS DB before doing anything else and try doing this off-hours when no one is in the system..  Once the user record is inserted back in SY01400, you could reset the pwd from within GP and test the user login.
