Formula (Calculated field) assistance

In Dynamics 365 I've created a calculated field as follows:

'Probability (closeprobability)'*(Decimal('Est. revenue')/100)

This formula is intended to report a weighted sales amount based on the estimated revenue * the probability of sale.  The formula works well but it results in a whole number.  Is it possible to format the answer as currency with 0 decimal places?

Thank you.

    Hello AM-14021633-0,

You're on the right track with your calculated field! The reason you're getting a whole number is because you're dividing Decimal('Est. revenue') by 100, which results in a decimal value, but the calculated field then likely defaults to an integer or whole number format.

Here's how to format your calculated field to display the result as currency with 0 decimal places:
    1. Adjust the Formula (Slightly):
Instead of dividing by 100 in the formula, you can multiply by 0.01. This will achieve the same result but might provide better compatibility with currency formatting.
Your formula should look like this:

    'Probability (closeprobability)' * Decimal('Est. revenue') * 0.01

    2. Set the Field Format:
    • Go to Customizations:
      • Navigate to Settings > Customizations > Customize the System.
    • Locate the Calculated Field:
      • Expand Entities > Opportunity (or the entity where your calculated field is located) > Fields.
      • Find your calculated field.
    • Edit the Field:
      • Open the calculated field.
    • Set the Field Type:
      • Ensure that the Field Type is set to Currency.
    • Set the Precision:
      • In the Format section, set the Precision to 0.
    • Save and Publish:
      • Save the field and publish your customizations.

    Explanation:
    • Currency Field Type: By setting the field type to "Currency," Dynamics 365 will automatically format the result as currency.
    • Precision: Setting the precision to 0 will remove the decimal places.

    Important Notes:
    • Data Type Compatibility: Ensure that the Est. revenue field is also a currency field or a decimal field.
    • Testing: Thoroughly test your calculated field after making these changes to ensure that it displays the correct currency format.
    • Publishing: Remember to publish your customizations after making changes to the field.

By following these steps, your calculated field should display the weighted sales amount as currency with 0 decimal places.

Formula fields do not yet support currency fields being used to calculate other currency fields (and formula fields do not give the option to set the field type).

You might have better luck with a classic calculated field (which you can define as currency when creating it) and should be able to handle that calculation. Otherwise, a non-calculated field populated via workflow, cloud flow, plugin, dataflow, or some other automation would be best.
