Assign task - An error has occurred

I am unable to assign a task to another CRM user. I get a Microsoft Dynamics CRM -- Webpage Dialog that states "An error has occurred. Try this action again. If the problem continues, check the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Community for solutions or contact your organization's Microsoft Dynamics CRM administrator."

Any suggestions? I am a CRM administrator.

    Hi Susan,

You may to check if the user to which you are assigning the task does have the permissions to read/write task.

Yes, the user has rights to "user" priviledges to create, write, delete, and assign an activity,

    Hi Susan

Say you have 2 users A and B. A is a System Administrator.

A assisgns Task to B - You need to check what permission does B have for activities? Does B have the permission to own a task?

You can try by assigning System Administrator Role to B and see if the problem with assigning still persists. If you are able to assign the Task to B if they are made the System Administrator role, User B does not have the appropriate set of privileges assigned.

I believe this goes deeper than security issues. We have a test environment where we do not have the same issue with assigning tasks. I am unable to assign anything to another user (like workflows).

    Hi Susan,

ARe you in update rollup 8 or have you ever been on update rollup 8?  If so, you may be experiencing this error:

Check the app/system log in your crm server and/or turn on dev errors to confirm the actual error you are receiving.  THere is a good chance it is this issue:
