Hi Wei...I have checked those options and they are identical. Would this cause the field not to choose the first option after typing the following characters: suppose the user wants to choose the option called "pharmacy" they type the letters ph and it directs them to the pharmacy option. Currently when they type ph it is directing to the first item that starts with the letter "p" and not pharmacy.

I believe the difference here is the Business Recommended on the second field. Essentially if the option set is Business Recommended, users can't select the no value option.
If you're to change this back to “Optional” like the first field, you should be good to go.
You could edit the field navigating by Settings-Customizations-Customize the System-Entities, choose the field which you could like to edit under the corresponding entity, change the Field Requirement from Business Required/Business Recommended to Optional.
