My company sells hardware and software products. For each of these items we want to sell them with a default warranty and then want to sell extension warranties for 1Y, 2Y...
What would be the right way to configure BC for this scenario?
My understanding is that all these items (Hardware and Software) need to be considered as /Stock/ to allow their tracking via a serial number. I have created an item tracking code for a 2-year warranty:

But why my expiration date is not automatically set if for my item, even though I have defined an expiration calculation of 2 Year?
Finally, for the extended warranties, how can I configure that? Should it be a new /Inventory/ Item or a /Service/ Item?
The problem is that there are so many possibilities but what I'm looking for is a simple config that would create an extended warranty item that could be sold and needs to be attached to a specific Item in order to expand its warranty.
