Can I unsubscribe from a standard landing page with subscription list?

I have a landing page with a subscription center for people to sign up for a newsletter.  If someone submits the form but does NOT check the subscription list - will it unsubscribe them?  It does not appear to do so, just making sure this is standard functionality.

    Hi Stephani, 

    For subscription lists added to form of type landing page, when the form is submitted, the contact is added to all lists that are checked, but is not removed from lists that are unchecked. 

    Where as, for subscription lists added to form of type subscription center, when the form is opened, each check box is always prefilled to indicate the current visitor's subscriptions. When the form is submitted, the contact is added to all lists that are checked, and removed from lists that are unchecked.
