Output Device Error

I started getting this error message whenever I would try to print any report to screen from GP regardless of module. The report partially loads and then there is this "Output Device Error" message and then nothing.

Once I restarted the machine, I no longer received this error and was able to print my reports without issue. However, it is interesting that this message came up so randomly and until I got the idea to restart the machine, I could not find any articles on this issue. Has anyone gotten this message before and any ideas as to why printing to screen would cause this message and why a restart of the entire machine would solve it?

    Hello Eddie.

I have not seen this issue but I would think it is related to your GP workstation not being able to communicate with printer.

I will leave this  open to see if the community has further response.

A customer of ours is seeing this exact message as well when they are doing a check run, either from Payables or Payroll. It happens when the reports are printed. In the tests the VAR has done, she has sent the reports to the Adobe printer. However, it also happens when users send them to an actual, physical printer.

At first, it seemed like it was related to a product of ours that the customer had installed. But then we took two other products (not ours) out of the .set file, both of which had nothing to do with the check process being run. In this case, even with ours in the set file, the problem no longer occurred.

We've been working on it for many weeks and still no resolution. Were you able to pin down what was causing it on your end?
