Dear All,

I am going to add new fields and methods in Standard Table "SalesTable".

As i know if we wants to work on Standard Objects , we need to use always "Extension".

In Data Model , we have Table Extensions node and i saw SalesTable.Extension is already there.

I saw in Table "SalesTable" we have an option create extension :

And in Table extensions > SalesTable.Extension are also there :

Kindly elaborate me the best approach to add fields and methods in Standard Table.

Please give me more shed on this.

Thanks!

    Thanks Sukrut

As you said "Changing any standard objet is not allowed from 8.0 onwards" Means You mean to say Table extensions > SalesTable.Extension correct? Instead of this i need to create our own extension for SalesTable to perform.

So, if i work with any standard objects like EDT, Base enums, forms , Class etc... So, need to create our own extension to perform further correct?

Please give me more shed on this.

So, in previous version of D365FO means before 8.0 it's allow us to work with Table extension > SalesTable.Extension ?

Please give me more shed on this.

No. In previous versions you could overlayer SalesTable directly, creating your own fields in it. And why not the SalesTable.Extension too (but that would not make much sense).

However many of the extensibility possibilities were there already on AX7 initial version 2 years ago.

I suggest you familiarize yourself with the content of this page in order to get more shed on the issue: [View:https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/unified-operations/dev-itpro/extensibility/extensibility-home-page]

Also I highly recommend the development lessons in the Dynamics Learning Portal.

    Thanks Sukrut,

So, version 8.0 onwards there is no concept of OverLayering. Everything is possible through "Extensions" only. I mean to say specifically Standard Objects.
