Aloha,
I was hired after-the-fact at a grocery store using RMS. One of the registers had a bad hard drive. I replaced it and reinstalled RMS. However, I don't have any license keys. End user has 2 keys but their paperwork from POSWorld (Out of Business) shows that they purchased 5 keys. I cannot locate the other 3. This machine is 1 of 5 workping POS machines so I know they did have 5 licenses. They said that in the past they would just call POSWorld.
Is there an alternative way to locate these licenses? If not, can I buy 1 license? Where?
Thanks,
Scott

I have the same question (0)This depends. The original model for licensing was a rainbow hardlock key (rms 1.0 -1.3). Then microsoft migrated to an office like key system, and sent customers cards with license keys on them (about 6"x 6" blue card with a yellow sticker). Sometime around RMS 2.0 SP2, microsoft migrated again to supplying those keys electronically, and they were stored in partnersource.
Your current microsoft partner can check to see if your microsoft partner record has the keys listed. If you don't have a current partner, then I just calling microsoft support and asking for an account rep, they also have access to your partnersource record.
