Does anyone know of a BC for Dummies book? I really need to put up a sample BC installation in a sandbox. I have put this off for long enough. Does anyone know of a guide or video I can use to get started?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Richard,

Since you are familiar with GP, one way to help learn it a bit is by doing a migration of Fabrikam data to BC to start with and then you can start playing around from there.  There is a lot of good content online even externally so hopefully others so are also digging into this will share links that they have found helpful as well for you.

    I hope this helps!

    Hi Richard,

Steve Endow has a great list of BC resources you can use and included on that list are links on how to get started with sandbox environments. For example in the section "Business Central Docker Resources" are steps on how to create a sand box in a docker environment.

I'd also recommend the video created by Eric Hougaard entitled "Get a free Business Central cloud sandbox" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZcwk8UHr_8

I hope you find this information useful with your journey into Business Central

    Thanks

    Gavin

    Hi Richard,

Sorry I forgot to mention I'd also recommend Eric's book "Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Field Guide" as a starter book for Business Central as well.

    Thanks

Is this the correct site to go to login into Dynamics 365? Every time I go there I enter my credentials I get a screen saying "Finishing Setup this will take a minute" . The progress bar gets to the end and sits there for hours. I have tried different browsers and different computers.

    Hi Richard,

You can get started by activating a trial using the following:

    Thanks!

    Hi Richard,

Aside of Steven's & Eric's blog / videos about 365BC, there is also a wealth of resources at Packt Publishing with online books and/or training videos.

    www.packtpub.com/.../

If you feel adventurous, you could setup your own VM or Kubernetes container with 365BC.. If not mistaken there is a pre-built container that already exists from Microsoft. Steve's blog explains the howto's around that.

I am going to need to contact Ingram Micro. I can log into this site and it recognizes me but when I try to go to Business Central it says not authorized.

    Richard,

If you own Microsoft's Action Pack, there is already a full 365BC license included that you can use to test with your own account.. not a trial.. full unlimited access to the Cronos company.

That is most likely the answer. Do you know if I purchase an Action Pack will BC simply show up under my account in Partner Central?  I am beginning to see more and more requests for migration to BC from GP. Since I do so many GP upgrades I feel it makes sense to perform migrations as well. The process seems rather straightforward. Fixed Assets and Payroll do hold back companies as are not yet available in BC.
