Is there a tool to bulk update with unique record id only?

I'm trying to see if there is a tool where I can simply have a spreadsheet with the unique ID of a record and the updated data and import this without a template. I'm familiar with bulk edit by selecting all applicable records, using workflows, and exporting spreadsheets and updating them. The issue that I have is if we are trying to update thousands of records with values for >50 fields and some are already filled, exporting a spreadsheet and updating it isn't efficient and has high risk for user error. Salesforce for example has the dataloader feature with API access where you can simply take an excel spreadsheet with ID's and new data values and import it. Does anyone know of a similar solution for Dynamics CRM?

    Hi,

       If you want to export the records and need the uniqueid of records.

      .Try This:

        click on export to excel and then chose the option dynamic worksheet ....then open your file which is exported there you can unique id of each record....

    The only thing I can think of then is to keep and eye on the Data Loader getting released with Dynamics 365 (it's part of LCS, if you've done any AX work). Judging from what I've seen of it, that might have the behavior you want.

    Export to Excel online offers similar functionality to exporting the data to excel and updating a spreadsheet. If users have updated thousands of records in a spreadsheet that has been provided to them, I need to use vlookups to match the data. Excel online won't allow vlookup functions across spreadsheets

    If you use the "Export to Excel Online" it will likely do what you want, as it simply keeps the data synced back to CRM.
