Dimensions upgraded from AX 2009 to AX 2012 R3 issue

Hi,

After upgrading our AX2009 SP1 to AX 2012 R3, we faced an issue related to the dimensions.

in AX 2009 we have the following:

Company A
Dimension Name Dimension Value Dimension Description
Department D01 Administration
Department D02 Finance
Department D03 Others

Company B
Dimension Name Dimension Value Dimension Description
Department D01 Corrporate Administration
Department D03 Finance
Department D04 Others

in AX 2012

All Companies Shared Dimensions as the following
Dimension Name Dimension Value Dimension Description
Department D01 Administration
Department D02 Finance
Department D03 Others
Department D04 Others

During the upgrade we chosen Company A to be the default financial dimension set, as I understand from that in AX 2012 it collect all dimensions from company A including company B (non found dimensions in company A)

My main issue is we don't want to share the dimensions across all companies in the AX 2012 R3.

I need your advice on how we can achieve the AX 2009 scenario of the dimensions in AX 2012

Regards,

Hi Hani, what if you setup your departments and other finance dimensions as user defined financial dimensions rather than operating units? Would that be an option? Ludwig

Thanks for the reply, the problem these dimensions are already used and we our depending on its description text on each company, we have more than 200 companies with different dimension descriptions and also not shared.

My college suggested to rename dimension value with a meaningful code for each company and apply the suggest solution as Sohaib provided it's link here.

e.g. renaming dimensions to be A-D01,A-D02,A-D03,B-D01,B-D03,B-D04

    would it be applicable ?

Sounds good to me. Yet, please test thoroughly before implementing in your live system. Ludwig

Yes, I'll do the renaming dimension value script in sql for faster result finishing and testing it in our staging system.
