MPS & Production Scheduling

Good afternoon all,

I've come across an issue with scheduling and just wondering if anyone had any advice...

When creating production scheduling from Planning WS (MPS) some production runs are separated/interrupted due to other productions already taking place.

Full process is: Sales Order created with shipment date >> running of Planning WS >> checks Item Card associated 'Routing' timings , therefore; setup & run time * Qty = full production run time (to be completed before shipment date). But can also recreate easily enough by creating 2 manual Production orders with due dates as e.g 20/05 and 21/05 and then creating a 3rd production also 21st but then when checking the routing timings the 3rd order is split so e.g 30 mins (unallocated shop calendar mins) on the 21/05 (due date) but then the start of the production run is on the19th . So when checking the start/end date of the prod run (routing) shows start 19/05 >> end 21/05 but obv isn't running for this full length of time as actually it's running for say 5 hours on the 19th but then cant run on 20th as no remaining capacity, but then uses remaining mins on the 21st.

Is there an option somewhere so that when planning is scheduled, the production will only be created when there is sufficient available capacity rather than just finding any unused allocated mins and splitting production.

TIA.

In base BC, no there is not.  There is a scheduling solution from Insight Works that will adjust the schedule to avoid starting something at 4:30 pm on a Friday and having it sit idle for the weekend (no capacity) then run on Monday.  They have a webinar coming up on the 26th if you wanted to see it.
