Outlook Client 8.2.2.137 not working

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello -

We recently upgraded to Dynamics 9.0.  I understand the new outlook client requires TLS 1.2,  so I changed the proxy setting in IE under advanced settings.  Not sure if I need to update anywhere else?

Using CRM online,  IE11, and Office 365.   I installed the client and it seems to work up to the configuration part.  Working through the steps in the config wizard, it recognizes my tenants (Prod and Sandbox).  This is where it fails.  I get an error stating "There is a problem communicating with the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Server. The server might be unavailable......There is insufficient disk space to complete operation"

My CRM system works and have plenty of local disk space.  I can't find any disk restrictions within the admin portal either.  All in all I'm guessing there's more to the TLS 1.2 update, at least I'm hoping.  Any help is appreciated.

Thank you!

Torry

I just googled the same problem related to a different customer and ended up here, turns out it solved the problem for the other customer, too. So this is absolutely worth a shot.

My memory, however, won't get any better.

    Hello Konatorry,

I had this exact problem on a single user at the same stage of the installation as you do. Turned out the user had automatic updates for Office and Windows 7 turned off for about a year.

As strange as it sounds, getting Office and Windows up to date with a year worth of updates through Windows update did the trick after a lengthy debugging session.

So it's worth a shot to check for any updates and applying them.

Please let us know how it works out for you and what ends up solving the problem for the sake of future troubleshooters :)

    Regards,

    Rasmus

If you have the appropriate Outlook client (i.e. the 9.0 release I gave the download link to above) you don't need to worry about the TLS 1.,2 issue that is already fixed within the 9.0 client..

If you have the appropriate release of the outlook client you don't need to worry about TLS 1.2 that is resolved within the 9.0 release itself.

    Hi Konatorry,

As mentioned above, in addition to TLS 1.2, you also need to upgrade Outlook Client 8.2.2.137 to version 9.0.

Please note that the version of D365 for Outlook cannot be lower than the version of D365.

For example, D365 for Outlook v8.2 is available for D365 v8.2, not for D365 v9+.

In addition, if you are not sure if you are using TLS 1.2 successfully, you could use fiddler to check your server request TSL Version.

Install fiddler: https://www.telerik.com/download/fiddler (Excerpt from this article.)

    Hope this helps.

As others have stated with their links - the Dynamics 365 for Outlook client version 8.2 will not work with Dynamics version 9 and above. You need to download and install the Dynamics 365 for Outlook, version 9.0 (Outlook client) from www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx

Hi Torry, Can you please provide below info.

    1. Go to Diagnostics Tool and turn on the Trace to Error from Advance tab in there.

    2. Repro the issue again and go to C:\Users\{Username}\AppData\Local\Microsoft\MSCRM\Traces and provide the *.Microsoft.Crm.Application.Outlook.ConfigWizard-Client-*.log file please.

    3. Also please let us know which version of outlook and OS are you using?

    4. Please confirm if you are able to browse the URL from browser or not.

    5. To conclude if its TLS issue or not , you may run fiddler and enable TLS 1.2 protocol and then see if outlook addin works or not.

    You'll need to setup D365 For Outlook for v9 - dynamicscrmclub.wordpress.com/.../d365-quick-tip-higher-version-of-d365-for-outlook-wont-work-older-d365-online

Can you try this? This should work for you.
