Notes do not open

The customer is on GP2016 and it is a local install, they go to click on notes and it will not open - I verified that it is not on the task bar or in the task manager - I made a change to the notes window in the Dex.ini - I checked the SY03900 , the Dex_Lock tables - I ran a script log on a machine that worked and one that did not and did not see anything that stuck out - we logged in as the sa user and could not launch notes - I had the user go to a different workstation and she could launch them - not sure what I am missing - this worked fine yesterday

This is fairly common when people work with multiple monitors and/or terminal services environment. The window is opening outside the viewable range. If the user has GP Power Tools, there is a setting that can resolve this (and prevent it from happening).

The Windows solution, is to use keyboard shortcuts to select and move the window to the viewable space of the monitor. It is quick and easy to do; hard to explain. Here is a link I provide to clients: How to Move a Lost, Off-Screen Window Back to Your Desktop (howtogeek.com)

Hello,

Can you please check if it is minimized on your task bar? I have seen several times Notes goes minimized and never shows as normal way. You need to maximized adjust it to reopen correctly.

As Lisa says, GP Power Tools can resolve this issue. It has options to remember window positions but also ensure a window never opens off screen.

It also has a security profiler window which will confirm if the window opens or there is a security issue.
