How can I get a trial balance report for excel?

Our auditors want a trial balance in excel.  I can't use report writer to export it using a tab delimited because there isn't a place to break on correctly.  I did put one together in FRx, but would like to use GP.  I have been  trying in Smartlist builder, but can't figure out what tables to use, if it is at all possible.

Thanks,

Laura

Here's a quick and dirty way to get it Laura.  Export the Trial Balance to the tab delimited format as you noted.  Sort the report by account number.  All the report headings will be grouped at the bottom of the sheet.  Delete these, then add your own column headings to the top of the sheet.  You can then add any subtotals you see fit.

    Hope this helps,

    Hi Laura.

These are the tables that should do the trick.

GL00105 which is the account index master file that that contains the full account number, GL00100 which is the acccount master file for the description and category.

You can use either the GL20000 file which has all the individual journal entries for a detailed report or the GL10111 which has the period debit credit summaries for the accounts by period.

As a note this summary view is also available in Smartlist and might be useful if you want a summary trial balance. You can use it as a pivot table.

    Hope this helps

    Laura,

What's the problem with using FRx to do this?  If this is not already what you are doing, you might find this method quick and easy: victoriayudin.com/.../dynamics-gp-trial-balance-in-excel-using-frx.
