Increase Serial number string size

Hello,
 
i have a requirement for FnO to increase the serial number string size of the product to 30.
the standard EDT is 20: is it fine if we increase to 30?
 
any consequence on that?

    Hi,
     
    Does Serial number EDT have extends property set? if yes, then you should change string size in parent EDT (In Extends property).
    You should know changing size will reflect in all places that have Serial number EDT.
    To know all references of it, right click on EDT and click find all references.

    Yes, If the EDT is supported extension you can extend and increase the String size and if the particular EDT is extending another EDT. it will not allow you to increase the string Size.

    The  Serial number EDT should be based EDT not the derived from other EDT.

    consequence  - It will be reflected in all the places where you the EDT has been used not to the specific place you are looking for.
