Updating a date field from Notes & Activities Workflow

Hi Everyone

Is it possible to create a workflow to update a date field called " Last communication date" based on date attached to Activity, phone call, notes or .... on a record like Contact or Account?

Or, do i need a plugin?

Hi Elsa,

It sounds like you want to update a field on the customer whenever there's a new activity (of some types). You should be able to do that with a workflow.

Set up your workflow to run on create of the activity (try the generic Activity, then Email and Phone if you have to break it up by type).

Add a check to see if it's an activity you care about (say, phone call and email)

Check to see if the activity is for/regarding an account, if so update the regarding account's Last Communication date to today (or the created on date of the activity, which would also be today since that's when it's run)

Check to see if the activity is for/regarding a contact, if so, do the same logic as above.

If activities don't support workflows (I can't check at the moment), you would do the same thing but through a plugin.
