Portal v8: Home page with instructions

Posted on by

Before the user is singing in to the portal (version 8), I would like to introduce the portal and show some instructions on the portal home page.

In the footer/lower part of the opening page some text could be defined, but users have to scroll down first. How can I show this introduction text in the upper part of the home screen without signing in?

Sorry, I now see what you mean.

Web pages use "Page templates" as their framework and the home page for the customer service portal uses a page template ("home") that doesn't have the liquid tags to show the "copy" (the text that you can manipulate) from the home web page record.

The quick way (and ugly) way to fix that is to change the page template (lookup on web page record as per screen above) to "full page" and navigate to the portal, the home page copy will now be visible and you can edit as per my original instructions.  However, it might look a bit off so you will need to either play with the headers and footers to make it look better.

To make it look fit a certain layout you will need to modify or create a page template using liquid, take a look at the other page templates for how the formatting works.

    Hope that helps!

    Cheers

    Nick

I have seen this option, but it is not visible on the home page of the portal. Could this text be overwritten by some default PNG picture in the v8 portal? Or should I enable some option?

In Dynamics 365/CRM -> Portals -> Web pages,

Find the "home page" web page record.

    Open and edit the text:
