Changing Fiscal Year.

My current open 2012 fiscal period set up is :

Year -12 months,

 Month - from Dec 25 to Jan 24; Jan 25 - Feb 24 etc.

What I need to do is to close the current open 2012 fiscal year early as for May  31 and open new fiscal  2013 From June 1 for next 12 months following the calendar month.

I do not have any transactions posted from  May 25 to May 31.

Can I go to the current open fiscal year and change end date from Dec 25 2012 to May 31 2012. Reconcile. Close open 2012 ending now on May 31.  Open new fiscal 2013. 

Is that a correct way to change fiscal in mid year?

Appreciate any comments and suggestions.

    Hi,

    I think you are on the right track.

    This is probably exactly what you said, but as I'm thinking, I'll type.

    Change 2012 fiscal periods - reconcile

    Open 2013 with approprate periods

    Make sure you have any adjustments you need to make to 2011 posted.

    Close 2012.

    As a side note, I presume you have a short-period tax return out there somewhere.

    Query, why are you changing your fiscal year?
