Difference between Warehouse setup and Location setup

Posted on by 769

Hi,

What is the difference between setting up Warehouse and Location. It looks like the same controls are available

if a user set Warehouse Setup \ Require Receipts, Put-Away, Require Shipments and Require Pick then this set use for blank/empty location. If we set some specific location a-la BLUE (not blank) for a document (sales order etc..) then system use Location Card set.

    Hi Salah,

I probably did not explain the question correctly.

There are two separate setup areas in BC. One for Warehouse and another one for Location. Both cards have the same controls for Require Receipts, Put-Away, Require Shipments and Require Pick. Are they duplicate? What is the purpose of having the same controls on two separate setup screens?

    Thank you.

    Hi olegvi,

You setup the location controls for transactions to manage your inventory in a small area. This means that you are not really managing inventory in details. You just receive some goods and store them in a specific location, then resell them.

When you want to manage you inventory in details, you have to setup the Warehouse controls (wide area). This means if you receive some goods you have to create a warehouse receipt / Manage bins , put-aways, pick up, ... all warehouse's operations.
