Work locked to user

Scenario that will almost certainly occur in a warehouse.

I am using a system directed mobile device menu for sales work, i get given the first work to process and for whatever reason (hometime, break time or ignorance) i log out without cancelling out of the mobile menu item i am using to give me this system directed work.

the outcome is the work remains locked on my user ID and nobody else gets this system directed work.

What i need is a way to "unlock" the work as change user, ending work user session etc, is not unlocking this. any ideas?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi tl82,

The options that you can try is:

    1. Complete work from AX (Work form and see if it would allow you).

    2. There are options to kill user session, but that doesn't unblock the work. So you can try to login with same username (Password reset is available) on workers form.

yeah trouble is the work template is such that the final put location, before stop work, is blank for location (requirement) and it doesnt allow to validate in the screen for this.

Yes i found that Satish, i did end user sessions but the work remained locked.

Not good as i know as a manager people go home and this is locked to them with no access. I suppose will have to plan to have all people's log ins to unlock the work, as i know how to complete that step.

    thanks.

the usernames you can get from within AX, the passwords can be reset right on the form. The form is Workers under warehouse management. Not the best way to move forward by any means.

Another option you could try to use is Cancel work feature (I think it is available  from 10.0.7 onward) and this way you can cancel work of type Sales, Transfer issue, Raw material picking, or Replenishment. Then regenerate the work and proceed.

    Hi Tl82,

Echo with Kasun. you can try the new functionality 'cancel work'. you can cancel the work then manually move the stock from user location to the desired location.

    Hi Tl82,

Does the suggested solution resolve the issue? If there is no more questions, could you help to mark the current thread as answered? thanks.

    Hi tl82,

I don't have great answers for you, but I do have a couple of things I didn't see mentioned already.

If the Work is Locked by a user, but the first work line still has the Work status = In progress, then there is a function that you can access from the Load which you can use to change who the Work is assigned to. The function is actually designed for changing the Put locations of the Work, but it can be used to change the User the Work is Locked by. Note that it might change the User of any Work attached to the Load (which is not Complete), so I would really only suggest to use this function as a last resort. From the Work form, you can do Related information > Load > Change work location.

If the user has Completed one or more Work lines, then the inventory has already been moved to the Location which represents that user, and the solution is more complicated. There is a Work split feature, which can be enabled in Feature management, and that might help process the remaining lines. I think it will allow you to move the work lines which are not started to a new Work Id.

Thanks all. some of these suggestions like the change work location one guy and the change user i have done and work in MOST instances. its just this one particular one that is the issue.

some of the newer functions like cancel work i dont have access to yet as our company has not migrated to that version. so time will tell if this works or not.

    Hi Tl82,

If the issue is resolved already, could you marked the answer? thanks.

    HI tl82,

Your scenario is a very common issue in warehouses.

I wish Microsoft enhances the change user feature on the work to handle in process work also.

We extended it to handle such scenario if not a single work line is closed and first line is in progress i.e. worker was made available the work and he left.
