Item Price cannot be activated when using Batch Job

Hello, I am using the Item Price form under the Costing Versions. Now I am activating a pending prices by using Batch Job. Now what I encounter is below,

Case 1, The price cannot be activated when the "From Date" is future date.

Case 2, If the "From Date" is current date, it can be activated well.

So my question is how to fix case 1, so that the price can be activated when it is future date?

In the system logic, it just show a warning message like "Price for Item xxx was effective as per 4/13/2099. Current system date is of 4/13/2015. Record has been updated as effective from system date", but it still can be activated by using system date.

You'll need to run the batch daily. The reason you cannot activate a future cost price is that upon activating, the onhand stock is recalculated with the new cost price.

    Hi Jan-Luuc,

    Thanks for your reply.

I confirm that the batch job is running  and it is ended on the Batch Job History form.

And isn't the batch job logic is same with manual operation's logic? So I am perplexing why my case 1 cannot run same with manual operation.

Well, when you activate the cost price by hand, you deliberately overwrite the activation date. When the batch job is running, you wouldn't want that to happen. If you have future changes in cost prices, you register these prices and have the batch job to update them by running the job daily. You do not want the batch job to update future cost prices since you've entered a future date for a reason. You want the on hand stock to be updated with the new prices as of this future date.

If you'd like to update all cost prices as of today in batch, update the activation date to today.
