Fixed Asset - Depreciation

When I run depreciation for all asset items, is skips about 20 assets. I am running the depreciation through the normal Depreciation window, and selecting Depreciate all assets.   I have gone through all of the assets it is skipping and there is nothing standing out that is different. Additionally I can get them to depreciate by adding them to a group, and selecting that group to depreciate.  Just not sure what is causing the system to not depreciate all the assets.

We're not on GP2015 yet but with 2013R2 I would have depreciation just end whenever it came across an asset that didn't make sense to the system- no error message, it would just jump ahead in the status bar.

Ours were assets that had a future in service date, and rather than skip those, GP would just end the process.  Our workaround was a group of only assets in service.

I'm wondering if there is something like that happening.  Are the assets scattered by assetindex or are they near each other (asset index, not asset ID)?

Did you verify if these assets have been depreciated for the same period previously? May be that is the case.

They have not been depreciated before.  All the assets were imported at the first of the year.  The Asset ID are not next to each other.  They are random.  And all of the placed in Service Dates are in the past.

    Nelson-

I would be inclined to think something like the assets had been depreciated for the cut off date you selected or may not have been added to the Book you are depreciating all the assets for. Are the assets truly a group of like assets, or did you just add them to a group to facilitate selection?

I know it seems strange, but the cute off date is not the problem. The book doesn't seem to be the problem either, they are all attached to the correct book.  Especially when I can select the group and run the depreciation with the exact same dates, and book selection and it will depreciate them.

The group I created is not like items.  It is only a group I created to snag the assets not depreciating.  They are different classes, and the asset indexes are not in a row, nor are the asset ID's.

    Nelson -

Are you using fixed asset classes to assign asset information to assets, when they are created? If not, using this feature can ensure all the required fields are set correctly. At this point, if you want an answer, you are likely going to need to look hard at an asset or two to determine what, if anything is different about them.

Hello NelsonC , Were you able to resolve this issue? I am having the same problem with selecting 'Depreciate All Assets' but the depreciation works if I do one by one.  Thank you in advance.

It had to do with the placed in service date being in the future, and the depreciated date.  Ex: place in service date was 1/1/2018.  Depreciated date was: 12/31/2016.
