Assigning Privileges to a Team

Hi,

I have users in a single Business Unit, where they are then split into Teams within the Business Unit.  I have given the users write access to their records only - set privilege at User.  I now want to allow members of each team to have write access to all records within the team they are a member of. I have set up a new security role which I was planning on assigning to the team,  however the permissions only allow me to set write access at User, then Business Unit. Can anyone advise how I can/if I can set this overriding permission at a team level?

Thanks in advance.

User access in the team role will give all users in the team write access to the records owned by the team.

The access permissions do not override each other. So you users will have write permission on records they own (from their role) and write access on any records owned by the team (from the role on their team).

    Hopefully this makes sense ....

    Hi Neil,

Thanks for a quick response. What access level do I give a record to give the team role all users team write access to the records?

If I give the team role User access, it obviously doesn't work. The next access is Business unit to give Write access however that doesn't work either as it doesn't restrict the Write access only to members of the team and gives write access to all members of the Business Unit.

'm trying to find out how I can restrict write access to the Team members. The info from MS on this is that the records must be shared with the team for them to get access, which isn't practical.

Any further info you can provide, will be helpful. Thanks again for replying.

    Hi Neil,

Sorry to be pain, but can I just clarify. The record needs to be owned by the Team (not the User) for the users in the Team to be able to write to it? Is that correct?

    Thanks

    Agnes
