System.IO.IOException when trying to open BC 14 Windows Client

Posted on by 2,983
Anyone seen this before. Fresh new installation of the BC 14 Windows Client (latest cumulative update available); client installs correctly, but when I try to open the client, it doesn't show any message, nor the client ever opens.

When looking in the event viewer, we can see thist .NET Runtime error:

Aplicación: Microsoft.Dynamics.Nav.Client.exe Versión de Framework: v4.0.30319 Descripción: el proceso terminó debido a una excepción no controlada. Información de la excepción: System.IO.IOException en Microsoft.Win32.RegistryKey.Win32Error(Int32, System.String) en Microsoft.Win32.RegistryKey.CreateSubKeyInternal(System.String, Microsoft.Win32.RegistryKeyPermissionCheck, System.Object, Microsoft.Win32.RegistryOptions) en Microsoft.Win32.RegistryKey.CreateSubKey(System.String) en Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.UI.WinForms.InternetFeatureConfigurationHandler.SetInputLegacyMode(Boolean) en Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.UI.WinForms.InternetFeatureConfigurationHandler.InitializeBrowserEmulationVersion() en Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.UI.WinForms.ClientSessionPreparation.PrepareCore() en Microsoft.Dynamics.Nav.Client.WinClient.NavWinFormsClientSessionPreparation.PrepareCore() en Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.UI.ClientSessionPreparationCore.Prepare() en Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.UI.ClientSessionCore.Prepare() en Microsoft.Dynamics.Nav.Client.WinClient.StartWinFormsClient.SetupClientSession() en Microsoft.Dynamics.Nav.Client.WinClient.StartWinFormsClient.RunCore() en Microsoft.Dynamics.Nav.Client.WinClient.StartWinFormsClient.Run(Boolean) en Microsoft.Dynamics.Nav.Client.Program.Main(System.String[])

    I know this post is a bit old, but were you able to find a solution to this?

    This has nothing to do with the server. We have multiple users working right now on this environment running the Windows client from their desktops.

    This just happens in some new machines we have mounted in the cloud (Amazon Workspaces). The Windows client doesn't even atempt to make a connection. Even run as administrator causes the same issue, the client just crashes, and this message is shown in the event viewer. We just want to know if anyone has been able to solve this issue in the past.

    Hi
    Have you restarted the service?
    With which user are you running the BC service, do you have the necessary permissions?
    With which user do you connect to the SQL server, does it have the necessary permissions?
    Best regards
    Gerardo
